SONIOS  Music Video (1997)
Pg. I
This was the second time i ever did a Storyboard. The take we are about to do, is from a scene
that was "storyboarded". This was one of the several "all-nighters" we did.
That's my friend i talked to you about. Meet,  Jose Abel. After doing the Storyboards for
this video shoot, I wanted to learn  everything i could about making movies. Gotta
say...we were both  learning as we went. It was a lot of fun.
From this reverse angle, you can see what we are shooting. The premise of this video is about drugs
and the roads it'll lead you to take...eventually (blah-blah)
This particular scene is in a party. Drugs? Party? Leads you to roads? Nope, no stereotypes here! A
party were a bunch of young people get together, and do whatever young people do when they get
together. So, we needed a few extras. We asked our friend to call some of her friends. The cool thing
about having a popular friend, is that everybody knows her so it was easy to get some people. The down
side is: EVERYBODY KNOWS HER.  They arrived by the truck load. Damn! The key element in this
shot is the seahorse in the tank (sorry, you can't see it in this picture) It's like the theme of the album.
Obviously we couldn't get a live seahorse. We got our dirty hands on a dead one and taped it to a string.
The thing was too dead and too dry, so it would float on the water. We got the shots by just taping it to
the side of the tank. How's that for movie magic?!
The night's shoot continues at our friend's house. This was around three in the morning.  Our
hero here is getting his drug-addict girlfriend a glass of water. You got it...Bad trip. The scene
called for a party, so, a little set dressing was needed.... a bunch of empty glasses and bottles
all over the place did the trick. As far as props go...well, we really didn't have any alcohol to go
around...although some of the "extras" brought their own (there's always a few).  I went all over
the drawers and cabinets looking for something that could help us. I found a bottle of soy sauce.
Pour some water in a glass with ice, mix in some soy sauce...voila, instant Jack Daniels!!!
